Foote was raised on a steep dairy farm, sharemilked and purchased his first farm in 1987, he is now semi retired on his gold kiwifruit orchard near Te Puke. Since 2005 Foote has been training and assessing thousands of users of farm machinery all over NZ, even in men's and women's prisons, he specialized in training chainsaws, tractors, quads, motorcycles, Side x sides and 4x4 vehicles. He saw how hard it was for minimum numbers to be rounded up for 2 day courses a couple weeks apart with the cost of travel, accommodation and time off work all borne by the employer.
Foote says "I knew there had to be a better way to train people on the gear they used every day on their own farm with the employer involved adding in their valuable lifetime of knowledge for their conditions. Foote spent a year writing down the most common skills required to operate the machines safely and effectively and included hints from many professional users along with photos and videos to create the most robust training resource he could. No one likes to be bluntly told to do something that way, we include the reason why so it makes sense and will be remembered, practiced then becomes habit.
The theory can be undertaken anytime over any period of time and the theory assessment can be stop started anytime to allow for disruptions like the cows breaking out. The practical assessments are set up on your farm with course examples provided along with the checklist to mark off all the required skill sets to meet the minimum pass mark. Graham is himself a victim of a serious harm accident and does not want others to suffer too, he decided there should be no barriers to undertake life changing training so they now offer 100% refund of course fees if you believe the course was not useful.
